Eclipse

Double bill featuring Ngaiire & Jess Hitchcock

Sounds are set to soar on Saturday evening in the Four Winds amphitheatre with voices hailing from the Torres Strait and Papua New Guinea, Jess Hitchcock and Ngaiire.

Opening the evening is Jess Hitchcock, an in-demand collaborator with the likes of Paul Kelly, Archie Roach and Kate Miller-Heidke. A storyline of resilience and never giving up hope despite the odds weaves a throughline across material from Jess’ debut album Bloodline and upcoming release Unbreakable. From intimate soul ballads to upbeat rhythmic country pop, her live performance draws from an all-original catalogue that is inspiring for all.

Off the back of a sellout Sydney Opera House Forecourt show backed by Sydney Symphony, the night continues as ARIA-nominated neo-soul star Ngaiire joins with the Four Winds Festival Orchestra under the Soundshell for a stunning night of symphonic R&B drawing on the artist’s career and her latest album – the critically-acclaimed epic 3 – arranged for orchestra by composer Alex Turley. Described by Rolling Stone as “a near perfect slice of hushed future soul’’, Ngaiire’s dynamism and distinctive flair have won her wide acclaim and are a perfect match with an orchestral kaleidoscope of sound that delivers a confluence of culture and creativity.

In the beautiful setting of the Sound Shell under a bright moon, roll out your picnic rug, enjoy delicious food and drink and be transported by the transfixing sound of Jess Hitchcock with co-performers Xani Kolac and Cristian Barbieri and Ngaiire.
