The After Dark sessions embrace the intimacy and immediacy of Windsong Pavilion, an acoustically pristine space that is always a destination at the Festival. This year, Festival Creative Director Matthew Hoy and Composer & Pianist Paul Grabowsky have co-curated two nights, each distinctly unique, yet bound by the spirit of collaboration that brings exponential (and often yet unknown) creative possibilities to life!

As the founding and subsequent Artistic Directors of the Australian Art Orchestra over a combined span of almost 30 years, Paul Grabowsky and Peter Knight have consistently cultivated groundbreaking relationships, leading to profound musical and cultural expression that has continued to diversify and define the voice of this nation.

One such connection held dear and valued by both is with Daniel and David Wilfred, songmen from South Arnhem Land – cultural leaders who have a relational command of music that functions on a truly unique plane.

Words don’t really do justice to describe or prepare you for the exchange of creative energy that occurs, nor what it is that they jointly convey. It’s a rare moment when these artists are all in the one room, relating at the peak of their powers.
