Join us in Bermagui for

THREE DAYS OF EXCEPTIONAL MUSIC

IN A BEAUTIFUL BUSHLAND SETTING

The Four Winds Music Festival returns to Barragga Bay near the beautiful coastal town of Bermagui for three days over the Easter long weekend. The Festival will feature over 70 of Australia’s renowned musicians including Ngaiire, Australian String Quartet, Paul Grabowsky, Djinama Yilaga Choir, Jess Hitchcock Trio and more in a feast of cultural experiences.

Four Winds is known for bringing Australia’s finest musicians from around the nation and the region to the Sapphire Coast. In 2023 the Festival program includes well-known repertoire plus new music springing from innovative collaborations and practice across genres and cultures.

We welcome you to our idyllic bushland setting. Bring your friends and family for a day or the full weekend, a day-time picnic with exceptional music outdoors in our Sound Shell amphitheatre, a night-time concert under the full moon, or late-night jazz in the Windsong Pavilion.

Gather together, relax with delicious food and enjoy music that will inspire and uplift you.

We look forward to welcoming you to Four Winds.

Festival Stories

🎼 Residencies are at the very heart of why Four Winds was created. Time in nature, away from the stressors and influences of the outside world - a space to journey inwards, allowing the music to come out.

There’s something unique about gifting artists with a week on Djiringanj Country in the Windsong Pavilion. They don’t need to worry about accommodation, meals, hiring space to create… it’s all taken care of. But it’s only possible with the generosity of our donors.

If you’d like to support a residency day for an artist, we encourage you to donate via the link in our bio.

With sincere thanks and gratitude

ANNOUNCEMENT // Four Winds is delighted to announce that one of the country's top arts administrators, Leigh Small, has agreed to become its new Executive Director, effective June 13.

Four Winds chairman Michael Darling says he, the board and FW team are thrilled to have secured someone of Leigh's calibre and experience to lead the organisation in its next phase of evolution.

"Leigh is one of the most experienced arts administrators in the country, having run Sydney Film Festival and Sydney Dance Company, and previously worked in executive roles at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Theatre Company and Belvoir St Theatre," said Mr Darling.

"She is a Dignam's Creek resident with a great love of the NSW Sapphire Coast, and comes brimming with ideas on how to take Four Winds into a new phase."

Ms Small says, "There is so much potential to grow events and audiences in regional Australia. Four Winds has done an incredible job in this score and I look forward to exploring possibilities for embedding Four Winds even more deeply in its local community, enriching its audiences and working with partners new and existing to take it strongly into its next phase.”

National Volunteers Week // People often say to volunteers, ‘you’re the best’ & ‘what would we do without you?!’ - and while those statements ring true, today we’d like to dive a little deeper and get real about their profound contributions.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of many organisations, offering not just their time but energy, skill and passion.

Volunteers arrive at an organisation with their incredibly unique experiences and expertise, ready to gift that back to the community with warmth and selflessness.

Their support allows us to produce workshops, residencies, performances and festivals alike - all infused with the spirit of community.

Our most sincere thank you to 30 years of volunteerism that have allowed us to grow and flourish as a music haven. Without the 500+ volunteers we have been lucky enough to have with us on Djiringanj Country over our time - Four Winds would not have been able to ensure continuing exceptional music experiences for audiences and artists alike.

Announcement // With our thanks for their various and extensive contributions, Four Winds announces that the co- Executive Directors, Gabrielle Waters and Greg Lissaman, and Artistic Director, Matthew Hoy have stepped down, at their request, from their roles in the company.

Gabby and Matt joined in April 2021, a difficult time, when amongst other broader challenges, the 2022 Festival had to change venue to Cobargo at the last moment because of excessive rainfall.

Gabby leaves for personal reasons, but a number of legacies on the administration side will remain, for which we are also very grateful. As she now considers herself a Bermagui local, we look forward to seeing Gabby at our events in the years ahead.

Matt has made a very significant contribution as Artistic Director, working with our Directors on their Create and inspire and First Nations programs. This work culminated in our critically acclaimed 2023 Festival, that touched so many. The special moments of this Festival were the stuff of memories. We thank Matt for his many contributions and wish him well for the future.

Greg joined us in September 2022. He threw himself into the task with great energy, application and skill, producing beautiful marketing programs and event experiences. He leaves us to pursue his other business interests in the area and we look forward to seeing him also in the years ahead.

We expect to be in a position to announcement a new Executive Director in the fairly near future.
Djinama Yilaga are off to Poland!!

What an incredible effort to take sacred Yuin culture and Dhurga language across the globe to share with communities and dignitaries.

@chezzdavo this is a phenomenal & exciting journey and we wish you and the entire choir a safe passage, and time filled with joy, music and connection! 🎶
